An Art of the Seen and Unseen

About April Xue

WEI XUE | Artist Biography

Wei Xue (April Xue) is a New York–based contemporary abstract artist whose work explores memory, dreams, subconscious perception, and the shifting boundaries between reality and imagination.

Born in northwest China and living in the United States since 1994, Xue brings a unique perspective shaped by her multicultural experiences and background in mechanical engineering and computer science. She began painting in 2022, discovering an intuitive artistic language that balances structure with spontaneity.

Through layers of acrylic, oil, texture, and expressive gestures, her paintings evolve without predetermined imagery. Figures, landscapes, and fragments of imagined worlds gradually emerge, inviting viewers to discover their own memories and interpretations.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in New York, Miami, Paris, Beijing, and Seoul. She was recognized in Art Market Magazine’s GOLD LIST 2024 and Arts to Hearts Project’s 100 Emerging Artworks 2025.

In 2026, her painting Frozen Dreamlight was acquired by the Villanova University Art Collection, marking an important milestone in her artistic journey.
